Hello, my name is Patty Gemmill and below you can read a little about me and my 40 year involvement in the world of purebred dogs.
I have been involved in the world of pure bred dogs since 1967. I started out showing German Shepherds and am pictured above going BOB with Ch. Wonderlands Black Bart in 1973. Bart went onto a Group 1 win that day.
I was married to pro handler Kim Knoblauch and was part of the team to take CH. Lakesides Gilligans Island to the Top Working Dog in the US award in 1972. Being married to a handler put a limit on the breeding I could do.
I did produce numerous Ch's and Futurity winners from very few litters.
In the 70's while waiting for BIS, I would always watch the groups at which time I was totally taken by a little red and white Papillon bitch shown by Tommy Glasford, her call name was Julie and I knew I would someday own 1 of these delightful little dogs.
For the next 20 years my path went in many directions from breeding exotic birds to owning and racing TB horses, all of which I was very successful with.
In the early part of 2000 I decided it was time for yet another venture and made up my mind it would be the Butterfly dog ,so began my search for a quality dog. Coming from working dogs and horses I had a pretty good eye for correct structure and had always been able to evaluate temperament so I read the standard 20 times and started going to some dog shows and trying to talk with breeders.
With no help from anyone I bred my first litter of Papillon's in 2002, 1 mis-marked male that was placed as a pet, my second litter produced CH. Starsign's On Raven's Wings a group placing bitch.
To date I have bred 12 AKC Ch's with 3 more needing just a few points to finish and the best is yet to come. I also take great pride in the beautiful Papillon's I have placed in companion homes and the wonderful people I have met because of these delightful little dogs, that are truly a Big dog in a little body.
I am totally committed to producing a sound mind in a sound body that can be a conformation show winner or a loving companion.

I am pictured below with Martha's beautiful Bentley son Teddy. Picture taken July 2009 by Teddy's owner Martha Inglis. Teddy is going to be a Therapy dog and with his wonderful character he was born to do this job.

It's Just a Dog
From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a dog,"
or, "that's a lot of money for just a dog."
They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent,
or the costs involved for "just a dog."
Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog."
Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog,"
but I did not once feel slighted.
Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a dog,"
and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a dog"
gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.
If you, too, think it's "just a dog," then you will probably
understand phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or “just a
promise."
"Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust,
and pure unbridled joy.
"Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a
better person.
Because of "just a dog", I will rise early, take long walks and look
longingly to the future.
So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a dog" but an embodiment
of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past,
and the pure joy of the moment.
"Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts
away from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a dog",
but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being
"just a man or woman."
So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog"
just smile......... because they "just don't understand."
